SUKHBIR BADAL FOR VIGOROUS CAMP TO ROOT OUT DRUGS FROM STATE WITH HEAVY HAND

Anandpur Sahib, March 27
Deputy Chief Minister Punjab and President Shiromani Akali Dal, Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said that in order to check the menace of drug addiction in the state, the SAD-BJP government has adopted zero tolerance policies towards the drug peddlers. He categorically said that a special campaign has been started by the state government to put the drug smugglers behind the bar adding that the results of this campaign would be evitable soon.
Exhorting the people to play a proactive role in checking the drug addiction in the state while addressing the mammoth public gathering in a conference to mark the occasion of Hola Mohalla here today, Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said that public support was vital for carrying out any such campaign in an effective manner. He also said that soon a helpline number would be set up by the state government where the people could lodge their complaint besides giving vital inputs check the drug trafficking in the state.
Recalling the history of sacrifices of the Shiromani Akali Dal for safeguarding the interest of the state and its people, the Deputy Chief Minister said that whenever the AD has assumed power in the state the well being of all the sections of the society has been ensured. Making a scathing attack on the Congress party, he said that rather than working for the welfare of the common people the Congress leadership has always shed crocodile tears on the issues related to them. Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said that Punjab was the only state in the country which under the stewardship of Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal was extensively working for the welfare of the poor and weaker sections of the society.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that for the first time in the state social emphasis has been laid on the education of poor but bright students adding that all senior secondary students in government schools securing 80% or above marks would get an annual scholarship of Rs. 30,000 under a new Dr. Hargobind Khurana Scholarship Scheme. Likewise he said that all BPL families would get Rs 30,000 Medical Insurance for each member under a new Bhagat Puran Singh Health Welfare Scheme and all government hospitals would provide free medicines to the poor in the state. In the same manner the Deputy Chief Minister said that all BPL families would get free Life Insurance and all children belonging to these families will get a monthly stipend of Rs 200 each
The Deputy Chief Minister further said that in order to give a fillip to the girl education in the state Rs 30,000 per annum Nannhi Chhaan Scholarship Scheme for poor girl students of 15.40 lakh Blue Card Holder families in professional courses would be given by the state government. Likewise he said that all Government ITI's in the state would provide Free Professional Education for girls.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal targets Centre on pesticide use

New Delhi, March 18, 2013- Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, member of Parliament from Bathinda, raised the issue of indiscriminate pesticide use and its fatal affects on thousands of lives in the Malwa region.

She demanded strict implementation of guidelines of the union ministry of chemicals and fertilisers at the ground level to save lives as well as agri-lands from pesticide pollution.

During zero hour, Harsimrat said pesticides were being used by farmers to garner high yield of crops. She said this pollution was not only harmful to human beings but also to the ecosystem.

Blaming "ill-managed" agri-related policies of union ministries, Harsimrat said due to the meagre increase in minimum support price every season, farmers of the country were forced to use pesticides to the maximum for high yield; as a result, 90% of pesticides got mixed in the soil and water.

She said lack of control over indiscriminate use of pesticides was leading to hazardous problems in our health system. Harsimrat said studies conducted by the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and other organisations in the Malwa region had proved that injudicious use of pesticides was one of the reasons behind increasing incidence of cancer in this belt.

She asked the union government whether it planned to have a dedicated body to look into strict implementation of laws and create awareness at the ground level to educate farmers about side effects of indiscriminate use of pesticides.

She said pesticide content had been found in blood samples of Malwa farmers, besides uranium content in hair of children.

She said the matter concerned the ministries of environment, chemicals and fertilizers, and health and family welfare. She said the ministry of chemicals and fertilisers should strictly monitor the pesticides which were allowed to be registered and used in the country.

Harsimrat slammed union minister Jayanti Natarajan for her comments that the situation was not as alarming as sounded by the Bathinda MP and said the limitless use of pesticides produced cancer in the state. She said it was a known fact that the national average of cancer was 100 cases per lakh population, while in the Bathinda constituency, the figure was 134.

Nine cops were traveling from Khamano to Fatehgarh Sahib in a Bolero jeep to take part in a parade as the driver of the vehicle lost control near village Lohara.

All injured admitted in the hospital  and stated to be critical.

ਮੋਗਾ, 5 ਫਰਵਰੀ: ਬੱਜ਼ਰ ਨਕਾਮੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਤੁਫਾਨ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਚੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੋਗਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਜਿੱਤ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਐਨ.ਡੀ.ਏ.ਆਉਦੀਆਂ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਹੂੰਝਾ ਫੇਰ ਜਿੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਉਪ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਮੋਗਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਥੇ ਉਹ ਮੋਗਾ ਉਪ ਚੋਣ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਤੇ ਵਰਕਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਿਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਸਨ। ਜਿਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਤੇ ਵਰਕਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕਠ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਕਾਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੇਤੂ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਤੇ ਜੋਸ਼ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਤੇੜੇ ਖੜਨ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਦਸੂਹਾ ਜਿਮਨੀ ਚੋਣ ਦੀ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਜਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਤ ਪਾਉਦਿਆਂ ਮੋਗਾ ਚੋਣ 50 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਵੋਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਿੱਤੇਗਾ। ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਰਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ +ਚ ਹੋਈ ਲਾਮਿਸਾਲ ਜਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਦਸ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਫਤਿਹ ਕਰਕੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂੰ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਝੁਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਜਗਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਾੜ ਵਲੋਂ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰੋਨਿਕ ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਮਸ਼ੀਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਕਿੰਤੂ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਤੇ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਸੁੱਰਖਿਆ ਬਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਮੰਗ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਣ ਤਾਂ ਵੋਟ ਬਕਸੇ ਸੋਨੀਆਂ ਗਾਧੀ ਦੇ ਘਰੋਂ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਰਖਿਆ ਬਲ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਸਮੇਤ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੀ ਫੌਜ ਜਾਂ ਯੂ. ਐਨ ਓ. ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗਵਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਨਹੀ ਰੋਕ ਸਕਦੇ ਵਰਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਚੋਣ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਗ ਸਮਝਕੇ ਲੜਨਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਲੀਡਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਨਾਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਅਗਲੇ 20 ਦਿਨ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਲਾਉਦਿਆਂ 51 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਵੋਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਰਕ ਨਾਲ ਜਿੱਤ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੀ ਅਸਲ ਜਿੱਤ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਬਲਾਕ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਮੋਗਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨਵਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਘਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਬੂਲਦਿਆਂ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਦਲ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਿਰੋਪਾਓ ਪਾਕੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੂ ਬਰੂ ਹੋਏ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੋਗਾ ਚੋਣ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਤੇ ਵਰਕਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਤੈਅ ਤਕ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਚੋਣ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਕੂੜ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋੜਵਾਂ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਚੋਣ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜਾਰੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਕਿ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਇਸ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਕਰਵਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਐਨ.ਡੀ.ਏ. ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਕਾਮੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਜੱਗ ਜਾਹਰ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਚੂਮਰ ਕੱਢ ਰਹੀ ਲੱਕ ਤੋੜਵੀਂ ਮਹਿੰਗਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ ਹੀ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਲਈ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੜੋਂ ਪੁਟਣਾ ਪੈਣਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਹਲਕਾ ਮੋਗਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਭਾਰਤੀ ਜਨਤਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਤੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਾਦਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੀਟ ਵੰਡ ਦਾ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਨਹੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਸੋਦੇਬਾਜੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਆਹੁਦੇ ਦਾ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਬਣਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਦੀ ਸੀ.ਡੀ ਹਲਕੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਬਾਜੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁੱਝ ਵੀ ਵਿਖਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੀ.ਡੀ.ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸੀ.ਡੀ. ਦਿਖਾਉਣ ਸਮੇਤ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਚੋਣ ਬਕਸੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸੋਨੀਆਂ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੇ ਘਰੋਂ ਮੰਗਵਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਜਿਥੇ ਮਰਜੀ ਸੁਰਖਿਆ ਫੋਰਸ ਲੈ ਆਉਣ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਨਹੀ ਰੋਕ ਸਕਦੇ। ਇਸ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਥੇ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਬਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਲੀਡਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਜਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ।

SGPC sets up panel to ‘rewrite’ Sikh history

Amritsar, January 17
In a significant move, the SGPC has set up a five-member panel, comprising Sikh intellectuals, to “rewrite” the Sikh history after thoroughly exploring the subject afresh. The decision was reached in a meeting of the SGPC executive committee held in Chandigarh recently.

In a statement released here today, SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said the committee comprised of Punjabi University VC Dr Jaspal Singh, Dr Prithipal Singh Kapoor, Dr Kirpal Singh, Dr JS Grewal, and Dr Indu Banga. SGPC secretary Roop Singh will be the coordinator of the panel. Makkar attributed the move to the demand from Sikh sangat and various religious groups from India and abroad in this regard. He said the decision was taken in view of the sentiments of the Sikh community.

Though Makkar could not be contacted for further details, sources in the SGPC said the idea was at a nascent stage and nothing had been finalised yet. The sources, however, said the Sikh history would be rewritten in 10 volumes, of which the first two would dwell on the life and the times of the Sikh gurus, while the remaining eight volumes will be about Sikh history in the British era, which will include the period of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Elections

SAD (B) to release manifesto today
New Delhi, January 17
Intensifying the SAD (Badal) campaign for elections to the 46-member general house of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) slated for January 27, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today addressed eminent Sikhs working in various spheres in the national Capital.

In a gathering of over 100 people, comprising businessmen, educationists, former Army officers, among others, Badal, speaking in Punjabi, urged the Sikhs to vote in the elections. “You people are the voice of the community. I request you to vote for change in order to better the prevailing situation. If people think that they do not want to participate, they would not be doing justice to the Sikh community,” said the CM.

He said the manifesto of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) will be released tomorrow on the occasion of Gurpurb (Guru Gobind Singh’s birth anniversary). The SAD (Badal) is going all out to wrest control of the cash-rich and powerful Delhi gurdwaras from the Sarna brothers -- Paramjit Singh and Harvinder Singh -- who are of the SAD (Delhi). They have been at the helm for a decade.

“The ruling party has disgraced the community by violating the rules of Akal Takht several times. There have been complaints of corruption and outsider involvement in the management of gurdwaras. Change need to be brought for protecting the rights of the community,” said Badal.

Talking on the deteriorating level of DSGMC controlled schools, Badal said that they once used to be the benchmark in the field of education. “During our regime in the committee, the schools used to give tough competition to public schools. But now, no parent wants to opt for them,” said Badal.

With the entire leadership of SAD (Badal) camping in the national capital, campaigning has intensified for election to the 46-member general house of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee slated for January 27. Though the issues are unrelated, this election might set the trend for the assembly elections in Delhi due later this year.
